Travel day to Chiang Rai, northern Thailand

Our time in Bangkok has ended and we woke up early to head to the airport on our way to Chiang Rai in northern Thailand. We have four more days of clinic in the northern area, starting tomorrow. The people in this area speak a dialect that may require a secondary translator, so please be in prayer for good communication tomorrow.

Just a reminder, we are posting all of our trip photos in our cloud archive here.

Today, we arrived in Chiang Rai, which is a few degrees cooler and half the humidity - only 90 degrees (real-feel of 100F) and 55% humidity.

Our host wanted us to see Wat Rong Khun (the White Temple), which is a Buddhist temple and tourist area. What do the photos of the temple remind you of? Learning about the Buddhist culture helps us better understand those we are serving. Thailand is 97% Buddhist.

Continuing our journey to the new hotel, we stopped to eat lunch, then headed down to a Christian community - elephant valley. There are almost 30 elephants that live free in the jungle in and around this village and during the day you can ride the elephants in a controlled environment. At night, they go back in the jungle. This sanctuary rescues older elephants and takes them on no more than three rides a day. The money is use to support the village.
